It’s time to go old-school - Pit Firing! Participants will prepare pieces using appropriate low-fire clay (5 pounds is included in the workshop fee.) Workshop pieces can be bisque-fired at the studio in advance, but it’s not required.

On the day of the workshop, we’ll gather (less than 20 minutes from the Studio, directions provided to confirmed participants) and place the pieces in a fire pit along with a variety of suitable combustible materials for decoration - we’ll have plenty, but you’re welcome to bring your own provided they’re natural, compostable materials - no glazes or industrial chemicals, please!

Once the pieces are ready, we’ll prepare and light a bonfire over them, then relax and enjoy the fire, food, and conversation while the oldest firing process of ceramics works its magic. Studio staff will collect the finished pieces and bring them to the studio for pickup beginning at noon the following day.
