Why take a pottery class?
“The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.”
Mini-Intro Pottery Workshops
We do the hardest parts, you spend 90 minutes learning and shaping your own bowl on the pottery wheel - all with the assurance that if something goes wrong, we’ll fix it. We then finish the bowl and glaze it according to your preferences, ready for pickup about a week later. It’s the lowest-cost, lowest-commitment method of getting into the studio and seeing if pottery is something you want to do, and if we’re the right studio for you to do it in. After this workshop, if you’re ready to sign up for the full month-long pottery class, the $100 workshop fee counts towards your first month!
Wednesday Evenings
Two or three times per month on Wednesdays at 5:30 PM, up to 7 students per session.
Private Sessions
Same workshop, but on your schedule. $25 additional fee; up to four students per session.
Pottery Class Sessions
Our regular pottery classes are $220 per month for weekly instructor-led class sessions, plus access to the Open Studio from 9-5 every Saturday. Your first month will see you creating your own pieces, trimming and decorating them for the kiln, and taking home finished work to enjoy. Ongoing students can choose to participate in projects and challenges to build their skills or explore the world of ceramics in their own way, supported by the studio’s instructors and the community of students around them.
