Why take a pottery class?

The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.
— Kurt Vonnegut

Mini-Intro Pottery Workshops

We do the hardest parts, you spend 90 minutes learning and shaping your own bowl on the pottery wheel - all with the assurance that if something goes wrong, we’ll fix it. We then finish the bowl and glaze it according to your preferences, ready for pickup about a week later. It’s the lowest-cost, lowest-commitment method of getting into the studio and seeing if pottery is something you want to do, and if we’re the right studio for you to do it in. After this workshop, if you’re ready to sign up for the full month-long pottery class, the $100 workshop fee counts towards your first month!

Wednesday Evenings

Two or three times per month on Wednesdays at 5:30 PM, up to 7 students per session.

A student sits at a pottery wheel, hands muddy, poised over a centered cylinder of clay. An instructor kneels in front of them, pointing something out to the student as they explain how to accomplish the next steps

Project Workshops

These are one-time event workshops, designed for participants to create a project with the help of our experienced staff. Each month’s workshop is themed around seasonal or topical project ideas. January’s project is a Piggy Bank! You’ll start with a pre-thrown bottle form, then add your own decorative flair to turn it into your own specialized design. Once finished, our staff will fire the bank to your specifications, then add a cork stopper to make the bank fully functional.

Can’t make the scheduled event times? No problem - our private workshop sessions are here for you and up to three others. Can’t decide on just three people to share the experience? Contact us - we’re happy to schedule a special event for you and your entire crew.

Please note: Due to the prep work and time required for these workshops, all cancellations or changes must be made 48 hours before the event.

Pottery Class Sessions

Our regular pottery classes are $240.46 per month (inc. sales tax) for weekly instructor-led class sessions, plus access to the studio from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Saturday - and in the evenings by prior arrangement. Your first month will see you creating your own pieces, trimming and decorating them for the kiln, and taking home finished work to enjoy. Ongoing students can choose to participate in projects and challenges to build their skills or explore the world of ceramics in their own way, supported by the studio’s instructors and the community of students around them.
